Dayside's art post indicates that you make video games for birthday presents. I saw that and just wanted to let you know that that's a freaking AWESOME idea by-the-way, so kudos! Got me curious to know what you used to program it all with since the screenshots look similar to something I've used before.

Ha ha thanks XD I was trying to think of what to get my best friends for their birthdays and couldn't think of anything better.

The 2d platformer I made for Dayside was done in flash. I used Flashdevelop for the IDE, and the Flixel library. The latest one I did for Vivifx was done in the Unity engine.

Cool deal, I got almost set up to try something with flixel once, but gave up with the flash programming. I'm pretty sure that's where i recognize the style of graphics since a decent few games use it. I'm into C and SDL right now, myself. 3D's a bit beyond my thinks for programming.

Anyway, you working on a larger game project by chance? My curiosity abounds for some reason.

My favourite aspect of flash programming is that you can run them on the web. That, and I haven't gotten a grasp of the memory management side of c/c++ yet :I. That's one of my major goals though.

Nah, I'm not working on anything at the moment. I have loads of ideas for projects though, ha ha. In the mean time, I'm plugging away at school and brushing up on 3d modeling.

. I haven't really drawn much lately myself. I've been working on making games for the past five months, ha ha. So mostly programming for that. I think I'm going to practice 3d modeling for the next while though. Once I get good enough at making characters I can practice my animation on them.

What are you learning in art class? There aren't really any art classes around here. The schools have something, but it's that basic stuff like drawing fruit bowls with charcoal or mixing acrylics. I don't really know what it all is, but all my painting is going to be digital. For the most part, I might try watercolor someday. And for line art, I think I'll just have to practice drawing straight, curved, parallel lines and freehand perspective and stuff like that.
